2012?

So I am going to see the new movie 2012 tonight. (at 1015 which means I wont be out til around 1 which is wayyy past my bed time). Does any one actually believe in this stuff though? The person I am going with does. Which should be interesting. I believe in alot of weird things, ghosts, aliens and things like that. But I just can get myself to truly believe that the world is going to end on December 21, 2012. Just because the Mayan Calendar ends there? Our calandar ends every December 31st and then starts right back up again on January 1st. Im pretty sure thats whats gonna happen on January 22, 2012. And ya know whats great? If im wrong, no one will be around to say they told me so. Hope these tickets were worth the 12 bucks. I will keep you guys posted.

  1. I actually thought that the end of the world was supposed to be on Dec. 23 2012, but I could be wrong. Also, trust me the producers of the film already have a television spinoff on the way entitled 2013. Pretty ridiculous, huh. Anything to make a buck lol.

  2. people that believe the world is going to end make up interesting micro-cultures where freaky shit happens. mostly referred to as cults.

there was this disturbing and fabulously done documentary on this one cult that thought the world was going to end on halloween two years ago. then it didn't

seriously if you have the time, watch it, guaranteed to be freakier than 2012

  3. The date I heard was December 21, 2012, but I don't believe that anything is going to happen, especially to the extent that is portrayed in the film. I actually read an article a few weeks ago in which Mayans were discussing the film and saying that the date is more about a solar event or things aligning, or something like that, and that they never started the whole theory of the world coming to an end at that time.

  4. CORRECTION! Im sorry I wrote this as I was getting ready and clearly wasn't paying as much attention as I should have been. It is december 21, 2012, which is the winter solstice. And by the way the movie was awesome!

  5. Hasn't the world been ending like 8,000 times by now? I understand it is somewhat of a sub-culture but at what point is it simply annoying? Maybe it's me but all of these world-is-ending movies are becoming too commonplace for me to even think about going to see them anymore. Maybe that's just my humble opinion though.

  6. I really dont know what to believe, since it is completely out of my hands it it is actually true, then I try not to even care to think about it. I think it would be cool if something happened but I dont really feel like dying in the next couple years. We will see I guess

  7. tim i agree every scientist seems to want to predict when the world will end. Right now we are living and the world was suppose to end at the turn of the century. lol Hope you enjoyed the movie!

  8. I was actually never really into this topic. I usually like scary movies but this movie seemed like it could be too realistic for me. However, I did look at the documentary Shana posted about (the cult that beleived the world would end on Halloween). What an interesting documentary. Its weird to think that someone can become so brainwashed, event to the point that there own parents can't bring them back to reality.
